We’re re-opening our New Writers Network in 2024 for those with short film ideas to develop their script, with the support and guidance of an experienced script editor.

Are you based in Cornwall and looking to develop your writing into a short film in 2024?

Apply for the New Writers Network with a treatment or draft of a short-form script for the opportunity to attend a workshop and receive 1-2-1 feedback from expert script editor Laura Jayne Tunbridge. Laura Jayne Tunbridge is a BAFTA nominated writer, and a director and script editor, working across film and television. 

Laura’s work includes Night of the Living Dread, which was nominated for a BIFA and also nominated for a BAFTA. Other Half, which was selected for competition as part of la Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival 2021 and won Best Animated Short Film at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival. And Requiem, starring Bella Ramsey, which was selected for the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Manchester International Film Festival. Laura wrote and directed comedy short Dragged Up. The film has played at festivals across the UK and throughout the world, was nominated for Best British Short at the Iris Prize and has been broadcast twice on Channel 4. In 2023 Laura wrote and directed queer short Girl on Girl for BFI NETWORK which was a semi-finalist at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and will be screened at several other festivals including the BAFTA qualifying Bolton Film Festival.

To apply for the the New Writers Network, you will need to upload your treatment or early draft script and be available for an online 1-2-1 feedback session on the 19th January.
