FylmK 2021 – MOWES Online Screening and Q&A

The deadline to register for our private screening of MOWES, the commission for FylmK 2020, is fast approaching. Sign up by 5pm, 20th April to join the virtual event. Our screening of the coming-of-age story written and directed by Bryher Flanders will be followed by a Q&A with Bryher and Mark Trevethan, lead at the Cornish Language Office at Cornwall Council.

Screen Cornwall works with Cornwall Council to commission a short film in the Cornish Language each year. FlymK has unearthed an broad range of genres and themes being explored in Kernewek, and has provided local filmmakers with an opportunity to create contemporary content that adds to the brilliant archive of shorts made in Cornwall.

FylmK is our contemporary Cornish language short film award, which we deliver once a year in collaboration with Cornwall Council’s Cornish Language Office. FylmK is responsible for commissioning beautiful and imaginative shorts in Kernewek, including An Tarow and the award-winning Yn mor.

Applications for FylmK 2021 are now open! Applications are open to everyone, and filmmakers are supported by the Cornish Language Office, and as such do not need any previous experience of working with Kernewek. The deadline for scripts is May 14th, 5pm. If you wish to apply you can find the guidelines and application process here.
