BFI Places

The BFI Places Fund recognises and invests National Lottery funding in areas that do not already have a BFI funded Skills Cluster, where there is evidence of a growing screen production industry and skills gaps and/or shortages in the local workforce. Thanks to these funds, Screen Cornwall has two placement schemes for new entrants and experienced crew and are seeking production partners.

Production Ready Pathways

Production Ready Pathways is an entry-level paid placement programme in Cornwall and Devon that places new entrants from Screen Cornwall's early-stage crew cohort on productions to ensure a continued supply of local crew, with the aim of addressing current skills gaps.

Step-Up Placements

The Step-Up Placement scheme targets those who are still in the early stages of their career, who are looking to take a step up in their position, but with the aid of a mentor and regular contact to track their progress.

Sustainability Training

The focus on sustainability in the industry has been growing significantly over recent years, as we all look to ways to reduce our impact on the planet. Working with partners, we will be delivering sustainability training to local crew, adding vital skills to their toolbox.

Production Ready Pathways

Cohort 1

In May 2025, the successful applicants to our first round of Production Ready Pathways took part in training days, including skills sessions in getting set-ready, networking, writing a good CV and wellbeing awareness.
